Our courses were designed with input from a range of industry professionals and, to retain currency and relevance. Current members of institute consists of practitioner representatives from the multinational construction, property and infrastructure companies, commercial property experts Chase and Partners, and CABE.

 What’s covered in the course?

Surveying course in SRDIITA matches the needs of industry, based on real-life building practice, building pathology, construction technology, and the legal framework for industry, risk management and building surveying practice.

This course is fundamentally based upon the core competencies which are outlined by SRDITA accrediting partners, which gives you a good foundation for your future career. We focus on the core technical knowledge, such as building pathology, construction technology and sustainability, as well as the legal framework knowledge required for a career in building surveying. In addition, participants can develop a range of academic and technical skills relevant to the surveying profession. As in industry itself, this course demands a broad range of technical and creative skills.

SRDITA also believe that as the industry changes, adopt new approaches, working with industry partners, should give our students the opportunity to learn about the innovative changes which are impacting the industry today.

 

Courses

After finishing your high school (or equivalent) ,certificate and diploma courses in surveying  will put you on the path to joining a high-profile profession playing a key role in developing new high-tech, sustainable cities, tackling climate change and solving global issues like urbanisation, migration and resource scarcity. 

Study land surveying and you’ll learn how to plot and analyse land, structures and natural resources. You could be using the latest Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS, such as GPS) equipment one day and designing land development projects the next. You’ll get to try out the latest CAD programmes, as well as using numerical modelling and project management software.

How to become a Surveyor

Surveyors measure, analyse and report land-related information for the planning and regulation of land, sea and the environment. Surveyors may work in related fields such as photogrammetry, geographic information systems (GIS) or remote sensing, and as project managers. After spending some years in the field, they often progress to management roles.

Education & Training for a Surveyor

To work as a surveyor in Australia, you must obtain qualifications in related areas such as surveying, geographical information systems, spatial science, and geospatial science. Completing a Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information System or a Diploma in Surveying will help you qualify for an entry-level role in this sector.
